Who is Bhagwan Neminath ?

22nd tirthankara of Jainism
Neminath, born into royalty in Shauripur (present-day Uttar Pradesh) in the era of the Yadava dynasty, was the 22nd Tirthankara in the Jain tradition. A cousin of Lord Krishna, Neminath renounced worldly life on the very day of his wedding after witnessing the suffering of animals meant for the marriage feast. Moved by compassion and a deep sense of non-violence, he abandoned the ceremony and retreated to Mount Girnar in present-day Gujarat to pursue spiritual truth. Through intense meditation and ascetic practices, he attained *Kevala Jnana* (omniscience) and spent the remainder of his life teaching the path of liberation rooted in non-violence, detachment, and self-realization. He attained final liberation (moksha) on Mount Girnar, which remains one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Jains today.
Though considered a historical figure from ancient times, Jain tradition places Neminath in the Treta Yuga, long before recorded history, making him a revered predecessor to Parshvanath and Mahavira in the Jain spiritual lineage.
